The White and Gold Bride: Kate

Kate McKeogh

I definitely got a flutter of butterflies looking through Kate’s lovely mail with her bridal pics! I loved meeting Kate and her gorgeous family. I especially loved the moment she slinked out in Prisma by Alexandra Grecco and it was her identical twin who calmly stated – that is The Dress! Kate got married in October 2021 in Cloughjordan House and the warm autumnal vibe makes me smile every time I see her pics.

We asked Kate some questions about her wedding style:

Kate, we love your dress choice! Prisma is such a great dress. Was it the style you set out looking for or were you surprised with your choice?

I knew I always wanted something simple and elegant.  I thought I wanted a square neckline but the deep V was amazing! I knew it was my dress the minute I tried it on, Sorcha let me try on all the dresses I wanted to try on and I nearly said yes to another dress but she asked me to try Prisma at the end and I fell completely in love. I was completely blown away by the material! I now want every dress I own to be in satin!

What would you say was your overall wedding style?

It was all very simple and relaxed. We had a black tie wedding which looked great in our photos, but we wanted a very relaxed vibe which we achieved through lots of candles, minimal flowers, long tables and lots of pints of Guinness.

How else did you accessorise your dress? Tell us all the jewellery and shoe details!

I wore my hair down, as I wanted to look like myself. I borrowed my mums sapphire earrings which added a lot of sparkle. The earrings were very dramatic and I chose no necklace which I think complimented the neckline of the dress perfectly. I went for very comfortable mule heels, I really wanted a simple elegant heel. Although I do recommend breaking the shoes in – I wore my heels and pjs around the house for a week! Ha!

Any underwear tips for our brides to be?

I found an amazing brand called Chantelle from Brown Thomas which is a one size fits all underwear and it was perfect! I would definitely recommend getting bra inserts sewn into the dress and wear lots of boob tape for comfort.

If you could give brides-to-be one piece of solid advice?

Take a moment before the dinner and just have a drink with your new partner, everything goes so quickly it’s nice to take a few minutes as a newly wed couple and debrief for a few mins.

Tell us about a special moment from the day?

We walked from the church to the pub after the ceremony, which was lovely and welcomed everyone at the pub rather than at the church, it really started the party and we got lovely pictures of everyone walking down to the pub. It was nice to just have a few minutes with my new husband just after the church before seeing everyone.

Who did your hair, make up and photography?

We had Dasha Caffrey for photos – she is amazing. Grace from Beauty Atelier did our makeup and Lorraine Brown for hair. I loved my hair and make up and the photos are incredible.

How did you find your experience at The White and Gold?

Amazing! It was so relaxed, I would have happily worn every dress I saw. I would have to say dealing with Sorcha was amazing! After all Sorcha did pick the perfect dress for me – she just asked me a few questions and then pulled out my dream dress that I had missed on the rail. She’s an expert!

Thank you for your kind words Kate – we are so happy you chose your dream dress with us and we hope the celebrations are still continuing!
