The White and Gold Bride: Emma
Our beautiful bride Emma got married in Pousada Palacio de Estoi in the Algarve, Portugal on the 3rd May 2024. Emma opted for a mini dress and wore the amazing Prea James Winona and Bowie. We are OBSESSED with Emma's look! We asked Emma some questions about her wedding and any advice she would give to future brides.
We love your dress choice (obviously!) Was it the style you set out looking for or were you surprised with your choice?
I was open to other options, but I think I always knew that Winona was going to be the dress for me!
When did you know it was the dress for you?
I spotted the dress on Pinterest while looking for some wedding inspiration and loved it instantly. I only tried on seven dresses, it was the last one I tried on and I felt so comfortable in it. I also loved how fast I could remove the bow in the evening to change it up slightly.
Who did you bring to your bridal appointment? Did they help you decide on your dress?
I brought my mom and my sister to my appointment. They were very helpful on the day, I did return to try it on my own before pulling the trigger just to make sure as it felt like such a big decision.
How did you accessorise your dress? Jewellery and shoe details? Were your shoes comfortable?
I kept it very simple; I wore pearl drop earrings and cream mules. My shoes were comfortable although one thing I didn’t think of was that my feet would swell in the heat.
Any underwear tips for our brides to be?
We all want to look our best on the day, but I think comfort is key so make sure whatever you’re wearing that it’s comfortable enough to keep on all day!
What was your overall wedding aesthetic/style?
Our wedding venue was an old Palace, so I felt like the venue itself did the talking. We kept everything else simple, white/cream flowers and candles as the venue had a more colourful backdrop.
Tell us about a special moment from the day?
Our first dance was so special as we have a 2 year old daughter so she joined us for the start and then went off to show off her own dance moves!
If you could give brides-to-be one piece of solid advice?
All the planning will be worth it, I would re-live the day over and over if I could. Not everything went perfectly, and we had some issues on the day, but I wouldn’t change anything. Take it all in as the day really does go so fast!
Who did your hair, make up and photography?
Hair - Rita Baptista
Make Up - Susana Alexio
Photography - Vando Daniel (Vintage Studios)
If you had bridesmaids, where did you choose their dresses from?
I had two bridesmaids; both of their dresses were from Forever New. Our flower girl dresses were from Next.
How did you find your experience at The White and Gold?
I found the whole experience great; I had a good idea of what I wanted but I still tried on different styles, and I was surprised by what I liked as I wouldn’t usually wear some of the necklines etc. The girls were so helpful, I wanted to try the dress on once more before committing to it and the whole experience was lovely.
